[Update] Grant Park Lighting Project

The construction portion of the Grant Bowl Lighting Project construction has been completed. The next step is having the lights hooked up, which is expected to occur at the end of the month. Thank you to the many homeowners who generously donated funds to support the addition of lights for our benefit and Grant High School students.

GPNA Response to Grant Park Bowl Closure

Summer Essay Contest for Incoming 4th and 5th Graders!

Contest Theme: Why I Love Grant Park 

First Prize: $100 Cash
Second Prize: $50 Cash
Third Prize: $25 Cash

If you live in or attend school in Grant Park and will be entering fourth or fifth grade in the Fall of 2026, you can enter the contest! In 500 words or less, tell us what you love about our wonderful park and/or neighborhood (examples: you can write about the dog park, the swimming pool, your favorite tree, your best friend, etc.). The winning essay will be published in the Fall 2026 issue of this newsletter.

How to Submit Essays:
Essays may be handwritten or typed. Please have your parent or guardian either email your essay (in Microsoft Word or another text-based format) to [email protected] or mail it to P.O. Box 13102, Portland, OR 97213.

Parents and guardians: please include your name, your child’s name, school, what grade your child is entering in fall 2026, and your contact information (email address and phone number).

Submission Deadline:
Essays must be received by August 1, 2026. We cannot accept late submissions.

 

May Plant Sale Results

Thank you to everyone who stopped to check out the plants, meet our sponsor (Cooper Design Build), and visit with the GPNA board.

An even bigger thank you to Dean Fagan, the owner/manager of Vivero Nursery on Sauvie Island for his generosity. With slightly over $1,800 in sales proceeds, $361 (20%) will be donated to Grant Park Neighbors Association.
