Public Open House Planned for Grant Fields Improvement Project
Wednesday, March 16
Portland Public Schools (PPS) with Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) and Friends of Grant Athletics (FOGA) will hold an open house that will allow the public to view the current designs for the Grant Fields Improvement Project. The project includes three new artificial turf fields, a resurfaced track and other park improvements. Once completed, these improvements will improve the playability of the fields, especially during the winter months.
PPS in cooperation with PP&R and FOGA have hired Dull Olson Weekes Architects (DOWA) with Atlas Landscape Architecture to design and prepare construction documents for the Grant Fields Improvements Project.
Demonstrating a commitment to a new model for public/private partnership, the Portland City Council and the Portland School Board adopted a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in May of 2010 authorizing FOGA to raise funds on behalf of the project.
The design process will conclude in April of 2011. The next steps, including bidding, contractor selection and construction will follow once the funds necessary to develop the project are secured.
